1. Who we are

Black Bar Technologies is a South African technology company providing ICT services including IT support, VoIP telephony, web development, cloud solutions and business software (including Invoice Africa). For any privacy matter, contact our Information Officer at info@blackbartechnologies.co.za.

2. Information we collect

• Contact form submissions: your name, email address, phone number, the service you are interested in, budget range and your message.
• VoIP porting requests: documents you upload for number porting (such as letters of authority and account details) that your service provider requires.
• Communications: records of email correspondence when you engage with us.
• Website usage: basic, non-identifying technical data (such as browser type and pages visited) to keep the site working and secure.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and this website is not directed at children.

3. How we use your information

• To respond to your enquiries and prepare quotations.
• To deliver and support the services you request (including VoIP number porting and IT support).
• To send service-related communications. We will only send marketing messages where you have opted in, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option.
• To meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process personal information only where one or more of the following applies (section 11 of POPIA): you have consented; processing is necessary to perform a contract with you or to take steps at your request before entering a contract; processing is necessary for our legitimate interests and does not unwarrantedly infringe your privacy; or processing is required by law.

5. Sharing of your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

• with service providers who host our website and email systems, under confidentiality obligations;
• with network operators or providers strictly as needed to complete a VoIP number port you request;
• where disclosure is required by law or to protect our legal rights.

6. Hosting and security

Our website, email and submitted information are hosted on professional cloud infrastructure in the European Union (Hetzner Cloud, Germany). We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and least-privilege access to systems. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this policy: enquiry details are retained for up to 24 months unless you become a client; client records are retained for the duration of the business relationship and any period required by law (such as tax and accounting records); VoIP porting documents are retained for the period required for the porting process and applicable regulatory record-keeping. Thereafter information is deleted or de-identified.

8. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• be notified that your information is being collected;
• request access to the personal information we hold about you;
• request correction or deletion of your personal information;
• object to the processing of your personal information;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

9. Cookies

This website uses only essential cookies and similar technologies required for the site to function and to understand basic usage patterns. We do not run advertising trackers that build profiles of you across other websites.
